Estimated Manuscript Processing Timeline

The flowchart illustrates the six main stages of the Reog editorial workflow: Submission, Initial Check, Peer Review, Final Check, Editing & Proofreading, and Publication. It explains the purpose of each stage before a manuscript proceeds to the next stage and is ultimately published. Manuscripts processed through to publication must complete the applicable editorial stages according to the outcome of the evaluation at each stage.

Reog manuscript processing timeline

Although Reog aims to process every manuscript as efficiently as possible, processing time may be influenced by several factors, particularly the quality and readiness of the manuscript, the time required by external Peer Reviewers to complete their evaluations, and the promptness of Authors in submitting revisions. Estimated processing times for each stage of the editorial workflow are presented in the table below.

Editorial Stage Estimated Processing Time Estimated Cumulative Time
Initial Check by Editor 1–7 days 1–7 days
Peer Review Process 2–6 weeks 3–8 weeks
Final Check by Editor 1–2 weeks 4–10 weeks
Copyediting, Layout Editing, and Proofreading 1–2 weeks 6–12 weeks

Note: Actual manuscript processing times may vary depending on manuscript quality and readiness, Reviewer availability and feedback, the number or complexity of revisions required, and the promptness of Authors during the revision process. Cumulative time is calculated from the date of manuscript submission.

In addition to the estimated processing times based on the editorial stages above, Reog also provides manuscript processing statistics as supplementary information for Authors. These statistics are descriptive and are based on the journal's historical manuscript-processing records. They do not constitute a guarantee of processing time for any individual manuscript. Actual processing times may vary depending on manuscript quality, the peer-review process, revision requirements, Reviewer availability, and other editorial considerations.

Manuscript processing statistics:

Reog applies an advance online publication system through Articles in Press in combination with issue-based publication (scheduled publication). Under this approach, manuscripts that have completed the applicable editorial requirements may be made available online as Articles in Press before being assigned to an official volume and issue according to the journal's publication schedule.

Through this mechanism, an article does not need to wait for the publication of the next scheduled issue before becoming available online as an Article in Press. The official volume and issue will be assigned according to the Reog publication schedule once the article is ready to be included in the relevant issue.

For example, if Reog publishes issues in January and July, and a manuscript is submitted in December and completes all processes required for Articles in Press in February, the article may become available online as an Article in Press in February and subsequently be included in the upcoming July issue.

The status, manuscript version, DOI, and Crossmark status of Articles in Press follow the Reog Articles in Press Policy.

Publication cannot be carried out instantly. Every manuscript submitted to Reog must undergo peer review before an acceptance decision is made, except for Editorial Notes and editorial or post-publication notices. Such content is subject to appropriate editorial, research-integrity, technical, legal, and/or independent expert assessment, as applicable. Comments and Criticism and Author Response may undergo peer review where they contain substantive scholarly arguments, new data, analyses, methodological assessments, or technical claims.

Manuscripts subject to peer review must also undergo editorial evaluation, revision where required, and the applicable editing and production stages in accordance with Reog scholarly publishing standards. Under ideal conditions, with a manuscript that meets the journal's requirements, Reviewers available, and no major revision required, the process from submission to acceptance may take as little as four weeks. However, the actual duration may be longer depending on the editorial process and the outcome of peer review. This estimate does not constitute a guarantee of manuscript acceptance time.

The same standards of evaluation and editorial integrity apply to manuscripts processed through the Fast-Track Review service. Fast-Track Review does not reduce, bypass, or modify the journal's editorial or peer-review requirements and does not guarantee manuscript acceptance, issuance of a Letter of Acceptance (LoA), a specific review date, or a specific publication date.

Not all submitted manuscripts can be published. Only manuscripts that meet Reog standards of scholarly quality, relevance to the journal's Focus and Scope, editorial requirements, and publication ethics may be considered eligible for publication.

A Letter of Acceptance (LoA) will only be issued after the manuscript has been formally declared accepted through the applicable editorial process.
