Crossmark Implementation and Strengthening Epistemic’s Publication Standards under the New National Accreditation Framework

2026-09-15

We are pleased to announce that Epistemic: Scientific Thinking and Literacy has begun implementing Crossmark as part of its continuing efforts to strengthen the transparency, integrity, traceability, and reliability of its scholarly publication record.

Crossmark is a service provided by Crossref that enables readers to verify the current status of a published article and determine whether any post-publication updates have been issued. Through Crossmark, readers can identify important changes to the publication record, including corrections, retractions, or other relevant updates.

All articles published from 1 January 2027 onward will fully implement Crossmark and display the official “Check for updates” button on both the article webpage and PDF file. Articles published before this date will be progressively integrated into Crossmark on the article webpage only, while their original published PDF files will remain unchanged. Further information regarding Crossmark implementation and the management of post-publication updates is available in the Crossmark and Post-Publication Update Policy.

In addition to the implementation of Crossmark, Epistemic is preparing a number of further developments to strengthen its editorial governance and publication standards. In the near future, the journal will revise and update its editorial and publication policies, journal website structure and information, manuscript template, author guidelines, editorial documents, and other supporting publication procedures.

These updates will be introduced progressively to align the management and publishing practices of Epistemic with the latest Indonesian national scientific journal accreditation framework under Permendiktisaintek Number 9 of 2026 and Kepdirjen Saintek Number 374/DST/D.D1/HM.01.01/2026. The revision process will also address relevant aspects of editorial governance, peer-review practices, research and publication ethics, publishing transparency, post-publication management, and other technical and administrative requirements relevant to scholarly journal publishing.

Authors, reviewers, editors, readers, and journal partners are encouraged to regularly check the Epistemic website for updates that will be introduced progressively. Authors are also advised to always use the latest version of the manuscript template and follow the most recent policies and author guidelines available on the journal website before submitting or revising a manuscript.

We sincerely thank all authors, reviewers, editors, readers, and partners for their continued support and contributions to the development of Epistemic: Scientific Thinking and Literacy.

Regards,

Epistemic Editor in Chief
